Elayne is a Senior Lecturer in Business Information Management at the Westminster Business School, University of Westminster. Her research interests lie in the sociotechnical aspects of information systems and in particular the contribution of stakeholders to the process of computer information systems development. As a member of the BCS Sociotechnical Specialist Group she is active in promoting this view of information systems development and is principal editor of a book of international contributions to this field, 'The New SocioTech: Graffiti on the Long Wall', published by Springer-Verlag, in April 2000. A follow-up book 'Knowledge Management in the Sociotechnical World: The Graffiti Continues' was published Dec 2001 by Springer and in addition she was joint editor of a book published in August 2002 by Idea Group called 'Socio-Technical and Human Cognition Elements of Information Systems'. She has edited a book with the Idea Group called KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT: CURRENT ISSUES AND CHALLENGES and has written a book with Brian Lehaney, Steve Clarke and Gillian Jack, entitled Beyond Knowledge Management. Her latest book, edited with Steve Clarke, is the Encyclopaedia of Communities in Knowledge and Information Management. Elayne is the Editor-in-Chief of a new journal published by IGI Press: The International Journal of Sociotechnology and Knowledge Development and would welcome contributions to this journal. She has published a number of conference papers and articles in journals such as Information and Management, Management Decision, CAIS, Engineering Requirements, as well as several chapters in books. See links to list of publications. She also is involved in a research group BIOPoM, at her university, looking at Knowledge Management. Her PhD was on: Strategic Planning for Information Systems: A Sociotechnical View of Boundary and Stakeholder Insufficiencies. Her current teaching and professional commitments leading and teaching on various postgraduate and undergraduate modules. She organises a monthly lecture series for the BCS Sociotechnical group and attached you can find details of the current programme and copies of slides of past lectures.
